About Pecan Grove Solutions

Pecan Grove Solutions was founded in 2009 to meet the needs of a large national pet product retail chain that was having problems obtaining parts and service in a timely fashion, sometimes waiting months for parts delivery.

The focus of Pecan Grove Solutions is to fulfill our clients’ needs in a timely fashion.

Located just outside of Houston TX, and with offices all across the United States, Pecan Grove Solutions is ideally located to ship parts and products as well as provide customer support anywhere in North America.

THE FOUNDER

Lawrence Collins

Lawrence has kept fish for over 30 years and has two degrees in Marine Biology.

He has given talks on successful fish keeping and commercial system maintenance across the nation, and has consulted with manufacturers to make their products better.

He often says that if we make a mistake, something could die, so we better take our jobs seriously.  That attitude is carried through to the work done by the rest of our team.

Gary Chapman
Gary Chapman
Gary Chapman received his first aquarium in 1988 and has turned the hobby into a career.

Gary has obtained an AA and an AAS. He has been working with commercial aquarium systems since 2004 and has experience in installation, design, repair, customer service, and technical support.

Mary Addison is a Georgia native and holds a BA in Communications with certificates in Public Relations and Mediation. In 2013, she joined the PGS team to fulfill a part time need for administrative help. Her position quickly evolved, and she spent her first few years at PGS working with one of our manufacturing clients to learn everything she can about small animal, bird, and reptile habitats. In 2015, Mary Addison assumed responsibility for the water features and installations division of PGS and continues to build and manage this portion of our business.

Mary Addison resides in Denver, CO with her husband and two young daughters.

Alisha Hippert
Alisha Hippert
Alisha began her career with PGS as an invoicing clerk in May 2013. Her first major role change occurred in 2014 when she began managing the Scheduled Maintenance Program. She headed-up the program until it ended in 2015, and was recognized as the 2014 PGS employee of the year for her accomplishments with the program. In August 2015, she took on the title Invoicing Manager and held it until January 2017. In February 2017, she was promoted to National Account Manager. Prior to her career with PGS, she was in the banking industry for eight years where she began as a part-time teller and worked her way up to branch bank manager. While branch manager, she simultaneously held the title Appraisal Review Officer for the bank’s 33 branches. In May 2004, she graduated Summa cum Laude from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. When not at work in her home office in Savannah, GA, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters, reading, listening to music, and running.
Michelle Zentgraf
Michelle Zentgraf
Building and keeping aquariums since 1985, Michelle holds a BA in Marine Biology and Ecology. She has experience in both freshwater and marine aquaculture, keeps both reptiles and amphibians, and is an experienced snake breeder. She began servicing aquatic systems for PGS in 2011, and joined the company full time as the Petco Account Manager in 2013. She is part of a team that coordinates service for Petco stores, assists with managing over 125 technicians across North America, and provides service in the field.
Alice Collins
Alice Collins
Alice Collins is our Office Manager. Alice worked for large oil industry companies for over 25 years in invoicing, payroll, and tax accounting before retiring. Additionally, she and her husband had several small businesses, and Alice handled the accounting records for them.

Lawrence coaxed her out of retirement to help with some of our “growing pains.” Alice helped implement some of the procedures to keep better records of our daily activities. She manages the office daily activities, and assists with specific tasks such as our 401(k) program and our health insurance plan.

Connie Lapotaire is our Invoicing Manager. She began her 37 year career with a major oil company in Illinois as a mail room clerk. After transferring to Texas, she gained experience working in various positions and was an Oil and Gas Revenue Accountant when she retired.

Since joining PGS in 2012, she has performed various roles before becoming the Invoicing Manager in 2017.

Connie resides with her husband in Sugar Land, Texas.

Lydia Bond
Lydia Bond
Lydia Bond is the accounts payable/receivable administration clerk for Pecan Grove Solutions LLC.

Lydia began her career at PGS’s Alvin location in 2011. Prior to joining PGS, Lydia retired from Shell Oil Company where she worked for 26 years. During her years at Shell, she worked as a database manager, purchasing associate, and project manager in a range of departments. Shell recognized Lydia for innovative improvement projects and service excellence on numerous occasions.

Lydia resides in Manvel, Texas with feline companion, Tina. Lydia enjoys time with her grandchildren, reading suspense novels, and sewing/quilting.

Julie Curlin
Julie Curlin
Julie worked for 23+ years in Document Control as an Administrative Clerk at a NASA contractor’s Technical Library and Drafting Department. She is detail oriented and has great people skills making her the right person to handle all incoming calls to Pecan Grove Solutions.

Julie built and maintained two backyard fish ponds with water lilies at a previous residence. Julie enjoyed working to keep her fish happy and seeing the many colorful blooms of the different lilies, and hopes to have a pond again one day.

Tommy Felts
Tommy Felts
Tommy began his career with Pecan Grove Solutions, LLC in September 2015. Currently, he is handling shipment claims and file management in the Alvin Admin office. Prior to working at Pecan Grove Solutions, Tommy worked for a large oil company for 31 years in the accounting department; both in Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA before retiring in April 2010. After five years of retirement, Tommy decided to re-enter the workforce.

Tommy and his wife, reside in the metro Houston area. They like spending time with their daughter, son-in-law, and twin grandchildren that live in the area as well. When schedules allow, they travel back to Louisiana to spend time with their two sons, daughters-in-law, and grandson. During the time that they lived in Louisiana, Tommy developed a lot of friendships and an appreciation for the Cajun culture.

Matt Schuetze

Matt has been in the aquarium business for 9+ years. He started out as a commercial aquarium installation technician traveling all over the United States and Canada. When he stopped traveling and doing installations, he settled into doing maintenance work and up keep for the Southern California area. Now, he is on the customer service team and helps with tech support.
Charles Teel
Charles Teel
After 6 years in the United States Air Force, working on the F4-E/G, U-2 and SR-71 aircraft electronic warfare suites, 17+ years working electronics and IT for various Fortune 100 companies, Charles decided to take his love of fresh and saltwater livestock from a small business supplying African Cichlids to the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex to a full time job. 6.5 years later sees him leaving the Service Manager position with the Dallas company for Pecan Grove Solutions. The rest, as they say, is history.

Vaughn has been maintaining his own personal aquariums since 2007. At that time, he was traveling the country installing commerical filtration systems for a large national account.

Currently, he is a part of the team that coordinates service and support for Pecan Grove’s largest national account.

Brad has been in the pet industry for a total of 12 years. He’s a family man that loves to ride motorcycles, build and fix things around the house and on his 2 and 4 wheel vehicles.
Andrew Byrd
Andrew Byrd
Andrew is a Georgia boy who spent the better part of the past decade developing a background in sign fabrication and installation.

In March of 2013, he joined PGS to fill a need for a full time service technician in the Maryland/Virginia market. He has spent the past several years becoming a professional commercial aquarium maintenance technician as well as learning a new city with his wife.

Nancy Amburgey

Nancy joined the PGS team late in 2017 as a member of the water features and installations team and works as an Account Assistant and Special Projects Coordinator. She lives in southern OH with her husband, having just recently moved back from TX to be closer to their 2 sons. Nancy served as a Yeoman in the United States Navy. She is an AVID Ohio State Buckeye football fan and a Walt Disney World fanatic. Nancy has raised and Shown Akitas for over 30 years and continues to participate in the sport by judging AKC dog shows. She and her husband like to travel, both overseas and here in the US. They are currently working on visiting/hiking all the National Parks.
Ryan Murphy

Ryan works with the customer service team to coordinate service and provide tech support.

Before joining Pecan Grove Solutions, Ryan spent 7 years working full time in animal husbandry at the Indianapolis Zoo in Indianapolis, IN, as well as the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA. In the time spent at both institutions, he was responsible for the primary care of various aquatic animal species.

Ryan has been working with freshwater and saltwater aquarium systems since 2002, and has kept reef aquarium systems at home as large as 225 gallons.

Ryan resides in Long Beach, CA, and in his free time enjoys writing music and spending time near the water with his dog.

Melissa Vaglia-Norman
Melissa Vaglia-Norman

Melissa graduated from Middle Tenn State Univ. and worked in the insurance industry for 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She joined PGS in July 2016.

Melissa lives outside Atlanta, GA with her husband, daughter and son and they all love cheering for Atlanta United Soccer. In her spare time Melissa enjoys exercising, reading, movies and going on vacation with her family.

Amanda Garlow

Amanda has a decade of experience in marketing & communications, and spent six years as a public high school educator before joining the PGS team in 2015. Together with the rest of the invoicing team, she communicates with our technicians and clients to process and produce invoices efficiently. She resides in Nashville, TN with her husband, three children, and many other aquatic critters.

She has worked for PGS since July of 2013. She began doing file management and has recently joined the Invoicing Team. Before working for PGS, Sherry was a legal secretary for 22 years assisting in a vast number of areas of law. Her experience in the legal field has helped her to develop great concentration to detail and strong organizational expertise. Sherry lives in Tivoli, TX with her husband. She has one daughter, one step-son, one step-daughter, and eight grandchildren.
Amanda Pearson

Joined PGS in late 2017. Was a stay at home mom and pharmacy technician prior to starting with PGS. Enjoys spending time with family and friends, crossword puzzles, reading, board games and movies.
Brendan Stephanian

Brendan has 5 years commercial aquarium maintenance experience. He currently manages the Scheduled Maintenance Program, provides customer service and tech support across the nation. Prior to PGS he traveled the country and distant parts of the world with U.S. Air Force as an F-16 mechanic, worked in the oil fields in Texas and maintained stores/aquariums for PETCO. From aquarium systems to fighter jets, if you have a problem, he has a solution! In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, playing sports and attending concerts.

John Thompson

Baltimore MD Area
John was born and raised around the Baltimore area and has lived in MD most of his life. He shares his home with best friend Barbara, dogs Sunny and Pickle, Willie and Vicky, their gang of cats. They have both been avid gardeners and have been raising vegetables and flowers for many years. They currently have a small pond with assorted fish in the yard and enjoy watching and feeding them.

He has worked as a newspaper boy, certified welder, sheet metal fabricator, zoo keeper, OTR truck driver and crane operator. Raised with a fix it rather than replace it mindset, that curiosity and tools have allowed him to repair many things, almost always successfully.
He loves riding motorcycles, fishing, flying stunt kites, hunting fossils and hiking.

He likes working at PGS and enjoys the problem solving aspects the position at PGS provides, finally making all 4 pumps work together on a 12K system will make your day.

Jill Drennan
Jill Drennan
Jill is our Inventory Control Manager.

Jill worked for government contractors for NASA for over 25 years as a Research and Development Engineer and as manager for a flight manufacturing facility.

With her training and background in organization and 5S processes she is working with the shipping team to streamline the shipping and receiving processes to better serve our customers.
